The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) is a non-profit, nonpartisan think tank that works on state and federal tax policy issues. ITEP was founded in 1980, and is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

Credibility across political spectrum

ITEP's quantitative analyses are utilized by observers from across the political spectrum and by analysts within government.[2][3]

ITEP has been characterized as nonpartisan[4][5][6] and left-leaning.[7][8]

They are associated with the liberal lobbying organization Citizens for Tax Justice.[9]
